wearable art and other eclectables
Wearable art. Handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, and eclectables featuring old components from treasures found around the world. Worn from authentic use, these pieces are sometimes a bit dented, and may be missing a stone or a bell. It all adds to the character and presentation. Often they are made from “gillit”- a mixture of metal that contains brass, nickel, and melted coins.
A repository of craft and color, ethnic treasures incorporated into unique wearable art from Sassy Zebra; sure to visually intrigue and entertain.
Here are examples of my raw materials before I break them down into the pieces I will incorporate into my work.

About Sassy Zebra
My work is greatly influenced by belly dancing. I tribal-style belly dance recreationally, and became fascinated with the jewelry from Afghanistan and Pakistan that is often worn with the dance costumes. The pieces are so unique; I wanted to showcase individual components in a way that could be worn separate from belly dancing.
I began combining tribal components to form one-of-a-kind necklaces and bracelets. The response from friends, family and co-workers made me realize it was possible to evolve what I was doing for myself into something more.
